  • Open House and Conference Sign-up

Posted by Megan Ptak at 2/1/2017

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are sending you this letter as an invitation to attend Jefferson’s Annual Patriot Open House and to provide you with information regarding spring Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Open House will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017. You may visit anytime between 7:00 and 8:30 p.m. The purpose of the evening is for your child to show you around some of Jefferson’s current happenings.

    • Several activities are organized around Jefferson’s ALL SCHOOL READ. If your child has not yet read Unstoppable, by Tim Green, have him pick up a copy from our LRC. The book’s message is one of perseverance with a sports theme.
    • In conjunction with their study of US History, the 8th grade student government will showcase a multitude of educational resources to help prevent the increasing numbers of slaves through trafficking, proving that slavery did not end with the Civil War in America.
    • You will also want to take a moment to browse through the student science projects displayed at Jefferson’s Science Expo located in the LRC.
    • Enjoying a game of Ping-Pong in the gym is another option.

You will find the entire Jefferson staff participating in the events of the evening, too.

This spring’s Parent-Teacher Conferences will be scheduled online. More information will follow via Talk203 as we receive it from district office. Conferences will be held on February 23, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on February 24, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
We look forward to seeing you at Open House.

    Estimados padres y tutores,

Esperamos verlos.

  • Welcome Letter from Mrs. Ptak

Posted by Megan Ptak at 7/18/2016

    Dear Patriot Families,

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this introduction letter to you as the new Principal of Jefferson Junior High School.  In the short few weeks since I have taken on this role, I have already learned that I have joined a caring staff, welcoming community, and dedicated school district.  I promise to work hard and establish the relationships needed in order to continue the positive environment already established at Jefferson Junior High School.

The Jefferson community, staff and students will continue to focus on the mission of District 203:  to produce students who are self-directed learners, collaborative workers, complex thinkers, quality producers and community contributors.  I know through working together as a staff with each of you as our partners, Jefferson students will succeed with the District’s mission.  As Jefferson’s new principal, I look forward to meeting you and working along with you to establish a positive learning environment for your student.

I wish you a continued fun and relaxing summer.  See you as we journey into the 2016-17 school year.

Strategic Blueprint

  • District 203’s FOCUS 2020 Strategic Blueprint

Posted by Superintendent Dan Bridges at 6/27/2014
FOCUS 2020 is the strategic plan for comprehensive improvement between 2014 and 2020, designed in response to community feedback, best practice, and a vision for the future. Ultimately, this blueprint will advance the fulfillment of the district’s mission.
FOCUS 2020’s foundation is the Future Focus Community Engagement process that occurred over the course of a year where hundreds of members from across the community provided feedback to the district leadership regarding areas such as facilities, finances, measuring student success, and programs of study. Learn more about Future Focus by clicking on the specific “Quick Link” to the left of this text.
The Blueprint includes four “Strategic Focus” areas, namely to:
    1. Design and implement effective practices that promote learning experiences for all.
    2. Foster a high-performance culture focused on student learning.
    3. Steward resources effectively to promote student learning.
    4. Effective communication and community relations.
Each Strategic Focus then establishes “Commitments.” These commitments are what the district leadership pledges to accomplish within a distinct timeframe. Each commitment then includes a detailed “Action Plan” which will be accessible by the public upon final draft.
District administrators provided an update on Blueprint Commitments to the Board of Education at the July 27, 2015 meeting.  To watch that presentation, please click here
